REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
Young Marines are required to perform a minimum of 50 hours of community service for every Young Marine Calendar Year (October 2010 - September 2011). Community service hours can benefit your community, veteran's organizations, military units, service organizations (Red Cross, Salvation Army,etc.), youth groups, schools, or church organizations. An official of the organization must certify the community service hours.

Young Marines completing 50 hours of community service will receive the Community Service Ribbon. This award can be earned multiple times in a single calendar year provided all criteria for the award are met. You will receive a Bronze Star for each subsequent award. A Silver Star will be awarded in lieu of 5 Bronze Stars.
The President's Volunteer Award is a Presidential recognition program for Americans of all ages who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer services. The Award is given to Young Marines that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over a 12 month period. Recipients are eligible to receive the award once every 12 months.
